Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is the First & Ten Club of Alabama?

Answer: A select group of more than 125 former athletes and businessmen who share the same interest in assisting our athletes in the business world following their education at the University of Alabama. We serve to guide student athletes who give so much of themselves to athletic programs at the University.

Goals include:

  • To impress upon the athletes the importance of acquiring a good education and to make them aware of the business opportunities after graduation
  • To assist student athletes in obtaining employment upon graduation.
  • To assist those who want to further their education by awarding the “Paul W. Bryant Scholarship for Continuing Education,” which helps pay for the expenses of pursing a Masters level degree.
  • Support the University of Alabama.

Question: How do I become a member of the First & Ten Club?

Answer: Membership is open to former Crimson Tide athletes, University alumni and friends of the University. The cost is $70 per year. If you would like to apply for membership, use our online contact us form and a representative of our Board will be in touch.

The resumes will be forwarded to the members of the club.

Question: What is “Career Day” and where and when is it held?

Answer: “Career Day” is held in the spring each year in Tuscaloosa. Our program for athletes is held on campus at the University. After a brief General Meeting of the membership, a distinguished speaker addresses the players. Following his remarks, we break into various career-oriented groups and the members present their careers to the athletes on a one-on-one basis. This gives the student athletes an opportunity to seek answers to their many questions concerning their future in the business world after graduation.

Question: What is the “Paul W. Bryant Scholarship For Continuing Education?”

Answer: Each year, the First & Ten Club presents a $2,000 scholarship to an athlete who has shown a sincere desire in continuing his or her education. A scholarship committee is appointed each year from our membership that determines the recipient of the scholarship.

Question: How can I help the First & Ten Club of Alabama?
